I received my Ph.D. from North Dakota State University in the Cellular and Molecular Biology graduate program. My Ph.D. work focused on exploring the chemopreventive and chemotherapeutic properties of flaxseed and its derived lignans in lung cancer. Later I had the opportunity to do a postdoctoral fellowship at the Brady Urological Research Institute at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. In my position as a Postdoctoral Researcher at Johns Hopkins I investigated the role of miRNA-21 in modulating the response of prostate cancer cells to radiation treatment. I was fortunate to join Dr. Lorraine J. Gudas lab in May 2024 after a 2-year gap. As a Staff Associate in Dr. Gudas’s lab I am involved in research on kidney disease and kidney cancer. When I am not working in the lab, I like to spend time with my 2 year old son, go out on my usual runs (sometimes take part in marathons), painting, and taking photos.
