Daniel Galke

Pharmacology PhD Program - Predoctoral Graduate Student

I grew up in Bay Shore on Long Island and attended Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences for my B.S./M.S. in Pharmaceutical Sciences, which I received in the summer of 2022. For my bachelor’s thesis, I worked on solid phase microextraction formulations to be used for better therapeutic monitoring in patients. For my master’s thesis, I worked on crosstalk between stroma and estrogen receptor (+) forms of breast cancer that had become resistant to endocrine therapies such as tamoxifen, and how said resistance could be circumvented. I started my time at Weill-Cornell shortly after graduating from my previous institution and joined the Gudas lab in June of 2023. My research during my time here will focus on oral cavity squamous cell carcinoma, specifically the role that the Notch proteins and related proteins/pathways play in its development and progression. When not in lab, I like going for exceptionally long walks, boating, playing any of the three instruments I know how to play (bass, guitar, and piano), going to local music venues and cooking.
